Course Units

  • Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector – Learn how the industry works and research the different treatments available to clients.
  • Presenting a Professional Image – Develop the skills, behaviours, and values needed to present yourself professionally for work.
  • Skincare – Learn basic skincare techniques and explore different types of products.
  • Basic Manicure – Understand the products and techniques used to care for clients’ hands.
  • Salon Reception Duties – Learn about the role of a salon receptionist, including taking messages, preparing drinks, answering queries, and booking basic appointments.
  • Health and Safety – Learn how to work safely in the salon and carry out basic risk assessments.
  • Basic Pedicure – Understand the products and techniques used to care for clients’ feet.
  • Themed Face Painting – Learn to apply basic face paint designs.
  • Creating a Hair and Beauty Image Using Colour – Work in teams to create an editorial or competition look based on a set theme.
  • Basic Makeup Application – Learn about essential products and techniques for basic makeup application.
  • Nail Art – Develop key skills in basic nail art techniques such as glitter, marbling, and animal print.

As part of a full-time study programme, you will also study English and maths, alongside a varied tutorial and personal development programme.

There are no entry requirements for this course.

You will build a portfolio of evidence which consists of written assignment work, posters, mood boards, photographs and practical observations.

On successful completion of this course, you may progress to;

  • the Level 2 Diploma in Beauty Therapy
  • the Level 2 Certificate in Nail Technology
