This full-time level 2 diploma will introduce you to the different fabrication and welding principles that apply to manufacturing and maintenance sectors. This course is the perfect launch pad for stepping into various industries, equipping you with essential techniques that pave the way for a level 3 qualification and beyond. It offers the flexibility to shape your career path, allowing you to decide which direction you want to take next.

Course information

This course will cover:

  • working in engineering
  • principles of engineering technology
  • principles of fabrication and welding technology
  • welding by MIG process
  • welding by TIG process
  • fabricating sheet metal work.

This course will provide you with the essential knowledge for working in this industry whilst also developing a range of practical skills required by employers.

In order to be successful on this course, you will need to have gained a grade 3 or above in GCSE English and maths. 

The course is assessed through a range of written assignments, online multiple choice tests, presentations, skills observations and team work exercises.

On successful completion of this course, and after achieving a grade 4 or higher in GCSE English and maths, you will be able to progress to a level 3 qualification such as a T Level in engineering or an engineering Apprenticeship.
